A message from Peggy Lauzon:

When I was twelve, my family emigrated from California to eastern Ontario where we bought a farm near Ottawa. I watched my mom and dad figure out everything from how to start a tractor to what plants will grow in northern gardening zones. We definitely made some mistakes, but the rewards of working together as a family and watching everything flourish – from the baby chicks to my mom’s scarlet runner beans – made a lasting impression on me.

That’s my definition of an entrepreneur. You could be running a small business or a not-for-profit organization, but you are making a real practical difference in the world with the work you do. You have a vision for the future (for yourself, for your clients, or for a larger cause) and we will work hard to help you get there.

I have been around entrepreneurs my whole life, but I started my adult career as the main contact for franchised store owners at Hasty Markets in Toronto. I helped these new entrepreneurs (who were often also new immigrants) with everything from how to price a slushy, to what temperature their freezers should operate at, to how to read a balance sheet.

I learned that small business owners are smart and capable. Really smart and really capable. I also learned that everyone benefits from just-in-time, knowledgeable and objective assistance.

When I moved to northern Ontario, I brought that business model with me. At The Aberdeen Group, we draw on our extensive experience across many disciplines to help you with the tools and information you need, when you need them.

Meet the Core Team

Peggy Lauzon.

Peggy Lauzon, MBA, founded The Aberdeen Group in 1988 in Aberdeen Township east of Sault Ste. Marie. Before that, she plied her trade in the Greater Toronto Area assisting franchisees at the then newly opened Hasty Market convenience store chain. She has grown her family and her business in northern Ontario. Along with her extensive business knowledge and expertise, Peggy is passionate about communication. She teaches strategic planning and community engagement at Algoma University and business skills to her staff and clients at TAG. Peg was honoured to receive the 2010 Woman of the Year award from the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Sault Ste. Marie.  She is also a graduate of University of Waterloo and the Humber School for Writers.

Jennie Evoy.

Jennie Evoy has been with The Aberdeen Group since 1992. With over 20 years’ experience, she brings tremendous depth and understanding to her work with northern Ontario entrepreneurs. Jen is a ninja accountant: she might be quiet, but clients who work with her know that she gets the job done. When she is not at the office, she is often working with her husband and young son on their alpaca farm east of Sault Ste. Marie. Jen hails from the Sault but has lived in many places around the world. She is a graduate of St FX University in Antigonish, NS.
